This is the last of the multipack for Mike's, and I'm not even sure it should've gone on this long. Mind you, I enjoyed the lemonade quite a bit, and the limeade was a nice twist. However, there was something about the black cherry lemonade that kind of put me off. I still liked it, but I felt like they were starting to show that their grasp exceeded their reach (or vice versa). The flavor that had been added to the lemonade overcame the lemonade, and it was not beneficial to the drink overall. I've had plenty of fruit flavored lemonades and fruit flavored teas, and I find that moderation is key with the fruit that you're adding. I'm hoping that they did it well with the strawberry. Let's go out with a bang.
The beverage pours a strangely artificial strawberry color. This is kind of what you would expect a strawberry Kool-Aid to look like or maybe even a Gatorade. The aroma is light, sweet strawberries and quite a bit of alcohol showing through. This has the same 5.0% ABV that the others had, but for some reason this doesn't appear to be covering it up nearly as snuggly. Still, I like strawberry, and I like lemonade. Let's do this.
First sip is odd. It's almost like it's a seltzer with how watery and carbonated it tastes. The sweetness of the strawberry is apparent, and the strawberry flavor itself comes forward. I can't really tell if there's any lemonade in the simple sip, but if it is, it's a little watery. At least the alcohol isn't hitting nearly as hard as it smelled. I would still like some kind of standardization on labels where they tell you what kind of stuff was malted or fermented in order to have an alcoholic beverage in front of me in the first place.
Tip-in is moderate carbonation burn with a strangely sweet artificial strawberry flavor that tastes like it came from a strawberry candy. The middle reveals a lemonade underneath, but the strawberry is still further forward with its sweetness. It is only overcome by the even louder carbonation happening at the roof of the mouth. The finish is quite pleasant with the cessation of the tempestuous carbonation, and the fear of alcohol burn is completely gone as artificial strawberry lingers for the trail off.
Bottom Line: Not bad at all, but I don't see myself ordering this often.
