After my recent revisit of Mike's Hard Lemonade, I remembered that I had already done a review of some Mike's Harder Something. I don't remember it, I don't remember if I liked it, and I am pretty sure that it wasn't just the straight lemonade. So, this is going to be, presumably, the same as the regular lemonade, but it is 3% more abv. That brings it up to 8% ABV, and I believe that the original was 5% ABV.
Not shockingly, it pours very similar to the lemonade that it was based on. It is surprisingly white for a lemonade, as I have found that most lemonades bend toward yellow, but this is pretty much just white. Upon pouring, I'm reminded that Mike's believes in carbonating lemonade, and I am on record as not agreeing with this. That said, the last one overcame the carbonation pretty solidly, so I guess they really know what they're doing and I don't necessarily know squat. The aroma is not noticeably different than the other Mike's. It is lemonade, and you can tell that it's carbonated by the fizziness. Yes, I just said that you can tell that it's carbonated based on the fizziness. I am a pseudo-professional beverage reviewer.
First sip is almost identical to the regular hard lemonade. It is very good, it is sweet, and it could probably use a bit more lemon, if I'm honest. The increased alcohol is not particularly noticeable based on a sip, but I know it's there based on the label. I suppose the effect that it has over the course of the evening will really tell me that it is harder, but the effect of alcohol is not the thing that I'm trying to record here. Instead, I'm going on flavor, and the flavor isn't bad at all.
Tip-in is sweet lemonade. The fact is, it is still sweeter than it is lemony, and I am really anticipating this getting too sweet by the time I'm done with the beverage. It is entirely possible this is sweeter than it's sibling, and they're doing that just to cover up the increased alcohol. The middle shows no signs of the increased alcohol, but the increased sweetness is definitely a bit too much. By the finish, the alcohol is now noticeable peeking through the sweetness that has become somewhat sickly sweet.
