Aside from some Chinese bots and several billion-dollar corporations trying to train their AI, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who reads this blog. As a result, I can be pretty honest. I'm not anticipating that this is going to go well. I thought that the black cherry probably had the best chance of being one of the good Harder beverages from Mike's, and I didn't really like that. Now, I have two more left in the pack, and I'm not looking forward either one of them. This one is mango. I like mango in my IPAs, but I'm iffy on if I enjoy mango, like, as a fruit.
I'm pretty sure they artificially color all of these, so the mango color is the color that you would expect mango soda to be, and it reflects the exact color that is on the can. I'm not even sure how they managed to get a beverage that is the exact color that is on the can, but they somehow managed to do it. I suspect they either used science or magic. I don't think anyone can tell which one actually used. The aroma is, expectedly, mango. Does that mean this is going to be good? Let's find out.
First sip is somehow too sweet, too mango, and too lemon. I don't know how they managed to get too much of everything in this beverage but they did. I'm not tasting any of the alcohol in just a sip, and I suppose that's a good thing. I'm imagining that if they also cranked up the taste of the alcohol, this would not even get past the sip process. As it is, this isn't good.
Tip-in is light carbonation with oddly restrained sweetness and copious mango meat. The middle is 100% mango flavored soda with no lemonade added but loads of sugar. Even the carbonation is adding to the sensation that this is just a hard soda. The finish is slight tartness coming from the mango as the lemonade backing shows itself and the alcohol eventually snaps its fingers so that everyone will pay attention to it before the trail off.
Bottom Line: Probably not the worst one in this pack.
